December's Ditch the Car Star, Lee, kindly took the time to tell us how she came across the Take the Right Route challenge and the benefits she has enjoyed since joining.
I first learned about Take the Right Route from a stall at the Christmas Market in Falkirk. I signed up at first as a money saving exercise because I was using taxis a lot to get around. I would get taxis out of laziness or convenience or shop with my mum to get a lift. Now I walk to the supermarket or call in to get shopping as part of another journey. The app has made me think about how I get around a lot more.
A big benefit is that I get out at least once a day for a walk. I had just started a new job working from home before I joined Take the Right Route and it really motivates me to get out every day.
I encouraged my best friend to download the BetterPoints app. She's quite competitive and we both like earning points, so we get out and about whatever the weather - we got a good soaking a few weeks ago!
I won a pair of Loffi gloves for referring her - my mum's had started leaking so I passed them on to her and ordered myself another pair. I've won two District Towns Gift Cards as well so I'm going to treat her to a meal out in Falkirk.
I was really pleased to find out you can donate your points to charity. I donated 5,000 BetterPoints to Strathcarron Hospice and I think it's great that you can give the points you earn to local good causes.
